India worst victim of terrorism: PK
5/6/2011 10:38:31 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 6:
Panun Kashmir today said India is the worst victim of terrorism and the recent happenings in Pakistan are timely for India to declare Pakistan a 'terrorist state' and stop the dialogue process.
"As Al-Qaeda Chief Osama Bin Laden was killed in Pakistan and still India wants to continue with the dialogue with Pakistan, which is suicidal and unfortunate," Ajay Chrungoo, Panun Kashmir chairman said at a joint press conference by Prof Hari Om and refugee leader Yuvraj Gupta.
Dr Chrungoo said, "India has been the worst victim of terrorism promoted by Pakistan as an instrument of its foreign policy. Now it is the time to act." He said India can no longer afford to shy away from declaring Pakistan as a ‘terrorist state’.
"We demand that the Union Government must correct its course with Pakistan and shun its ambivalent approach to issues of national importance," he said.
Meanwhile Prof Hari Om said, "India has already paid a very heavy price for pursuing a policy course with Pakistan which has only strengthened the subversive and terrorist regimes and accorded international legitimacy to the Pakistan’s communal stand on Jammu and Kashmir." The Government of India has to realize that its policies regarding Jammu and Kashmir have only negated the principles of secularism and democracy and accorded an undue importance to separatist variants, Prof Hari Om said and added, "It has led to its failure to defeat terrorism and separatism in Jammu and Kashmir." The Panun leaders said continuation of dialogue with Pakistan despite international outrage caused due to the latter’s involvement in acting as a base for international terrorism would further strengthen radical ‘Jihadi Forces’ in India.
"The dialogue should immediately be discontinued and India should declare Pakistan as a ‘terrorist state’," he said.
On separatist leader Ali Shah Geelani, Dr Chrungoo said, "Geelani is another face of Al-Qaeeda, who is perpetuating terrorism and separatism in this region of Jammu and Kashmir but unfortunately, the Government wants him to be the part and parcel of the talks on the table." The members also advocated stringent ‘Anti-Terrorist Laws’ so that decision on hardcore militants like Afzal Guru and Ajmal Kasab was not further delayed.
