| Islam Public School rededicated to people | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, May 6: As part of the army’s commitment towards return of
normalcy and its social responsibility towards enhancing educational
facilities in the area, an all out effort was made by Headquarters 8
Sector Rashtriya Rifles to prepare Islam Public School to be returned
to the local population.
Of late, with the improvement in the internal security situation a
decision was taken at Headquarters Counter Insurgency Force (K) to
return the school back to the populace.
In a small and simple function conducted at the school premises on
today, the army rededicated the school back to the local population.
The school was handed over to the newly elected representatives of the
villages by the Commander 8 Sector Rashtriya Rifles.
Islam Public School, Waripura was established in the year 1989 by a
council formed by the local population. It was conducting classes for
students of the nearby villages from standard first to eighth till
1996.
Due to the deterioration in the security environment, the army took
over the school in 1995 and a camp was established.
It is yet another milestone in the return of normalcy in the valley
and was highly appreciated by the local population. It went a long way
in achieving the goal of ‘Awam aur Jawan, Aman hai Muqam’.
