| Moungri mela arrangements discussed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Udhampur, May 6: Arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of 3-day Lord
Shiv Parvati Cave Shrine Mela, Moungri to be commenced from May 14,
2011, were discussed at a meeting of district officers and local mela
committee members held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy
Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Rajinder Singh on Friday.
Chief Planning Officer, Tehsildar Settlement, Dy Controller Civil
Defence, District Officers of various departments, Chairman, Moungri
Mela Committee, Advocate S. D. Kotwal, President Indian Style
Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar and Hans Raj Thakur attended the
meeting.
After holding threadbare discussion of various arrangements related to
smooth conduct of mela like security, sanitation, health care,
transport, Traffic, drinking water and power supply, checking of
rates, ration supply, cultural problems and sports, the ADC directed
the officers to make it sure that all arrangements pertaining to their
departments are made well in advance and in an effective manner
leaving no scope of any complaint from any quarter.
The ADC asked Assistant Director, CA &PD to rush adequate ration
besides checking rates lists of eatables at the mela site. Executive
Engineer, PWD was asked raising temporary sanitation units and PHE for
drinking water supply and deployment of one water tanker at Moungri
mela site. Chief Medical Officer to ensure deployment of doctors with
medicine and Fire Services to send fire tender during mela days.
Singh also directed the Tourist Officer to ensure adequate publicity
of the mela. Likewise, district heads of different departments were
asked to install their stalls at Moungri for the benefit of people.
The ADC also assured to provide some financial assistance to Dangal
committee for holding a wrestling match like previous years there.
The ADC asked the District Youth Services and Sports Officer to hold
cultural and sports activities there in coordination with Chief
Education Officer and Nehru Yuva Kendra, Udhampur as a source of
entertainment for visitors. It was also decided in the meeting that
J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association also hold a wrestling match on
the concluding day of mela.
