| Panchayat elections in Hiranagar on May 8 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, MAY 6 –
The panchayat elections in Hiranagar block, Kathua district will be held on 8th of May, 2011 under phase VII.
The Hiranagar block has 33 panchayats and 226 panch constituencies besides 226 polling stations have been established in the block, out of which, 148 are normal and 78 are sensitive. About 12 ROs and 21 AROs have been appointed for the smooth conduct of the panchayat elections in the block.
There are a total of 57890 voters in the block including 29910 male and 27980 female.
As many as, 169 candidates are in fray, out of them, 168 are male and one female while 442 candidates are in fray for panch elections, out of them, 293 are male and 149 female.
