Sikh Gurus inculcated spirit of leadership: Governor

JAMMU, NOV 19
Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) S K Sinha today said that the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji inculcated spirit of leadership and helped in bringing harmony in the society.
Releasing ‘Dus Guru Sahiban’, a Punjabi book written by Mr. J. S. Risam at a function here this afternoon, the Governor referred to the noble preaching of Guru Sahiban that had the message for universal brotherhood, peace, amity and tolerance.
‘The message and teachings of the great Gurus need to be spread across for social justice, unity and harmony in the society’, the Governor said.
He said that he was brought up in Patna, the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singhji, whose life and teachings have greatly influenced him. He said that during his Army tenure, he would quote the Guru Bani like ‘Deh Shiva Var Mohe Ahe, Shub Karman Te Kabh Hun Na Darun’, essence of which is to submit before the Lord Almighty.
The Governor threw light on the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and said he was champion of social justice and tolerance, rightful place to women in the society. He said that Guru Ji travelled widely to spread his message of love. Peace and amity among the people.
Mr. Raman Bhalla, MLA, Mr. Ved Bhasin and Mr. J.S. Risam also spoke on the occasion while Prof. Devinder singh gave an over view of the book.
Chief Justice Mr. Justice Bashir Ahmed Khan, Chairman Public Service Commissioner Mr. Mohd. Shafi Pandit, Former Chief Secretary Mr. S. S. Baloria were among the prominent intellectuals, academicians and citizens were present at the book release function.
