People cautioned against illegal blood transfusion | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 6: Acting on reports of illegal transfusion and collection of whole human blood being carried out by some Nursing Homes, a joint inspection team of officers from State Drugs Control Department and Central Drug Standard Control Organization conducted a raid on Navyug Nursing Home, Old Rehari Chungi, Jammu. During the raid, blood collection bags were found stocked in the premises and the inspectorate staff seized the available stocks of blood bags and other medicines under the provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules there under. Premises of prominent dealers dealing with procurement and distribution of blood bags and blood transfusion sets were also raided. Investigation in the matter is being carried out and preliminary exercise as mandated under relevant provisions of law has been completed. Public in general is requested to object illegal transfusion and collection of whole human blood since the subject matter is entirely the domain of licensed blood banks. Un-lawful blood transfusion can have serious health implications. A case under relevant provisions of law is being registered against Navyug Nursing Home in the Court of Law.
