Govt plans to attract foreign tourists | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 7: In order to promote foreign tourism, the government has directed the police to take appropriate measures to prevent separatists to incite violence. The police have also been directed to ensure a smooth Amarnathji pilgrimage. The government, sources said, has sought sixty companies of para-military forces for an incident free summer. Sources said that the tourist influx to Valley registered an increase during the month of March. The government expects further increase during the current month. The sources said that around five lakh tourists had visited Kashmir since January to March and over seven lakh are expected in the coming months.
The flow of foreign tourists visiting India, sources said, had also registered an increase. “If only one percent of them visit Kashmir, it will boost the industry”, they said. They said that India expects around 60 lakh foreign tourists during the current year as against 5.58 million last year. They said that the Kashmir Government was trying to attract over six lakh foreigners to Jammu and Kashmir and for this the Government has to take appropriate measures.
