Sustained dialogue with people can win hearts and minds: Bhan | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, May 7 : Senior Congress leader and prominent lawyer, Advocate Ashok Bhan, Saturday, said that the peace process initiated by the UPA government with the people of J&K has assumed greater importance for the past few years. While addressing AICC lawyers and academia for Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi, Bhan said, “Growing disaffection among the Valley’s population both Muslims and exiled Pandits has polarized the political discourse to negativities. Militancy has lost its punch and sting. Violence has no place and peace has become sine qua non for settlement and solution narration which is no change in the boarders and acknowledgement of irrelevance of UN resolutions and politics to take centre stage.” He said that separatist politics gave rise to three successive summer agitations and pushed the gun to the background. “Sustained dialogue with people can win the hearts and minds and will end their miseries which eventually will lead to a lasting solution with dignity,” he said. Bhan lashed out at the coalition government saying it has failed to come to the expectations of the people. “CBMs like release of political détentes, removal of bunkers, jobs to the unemployed and effective maintenance of law and order is need of the hour,” he demanded.
