JK Public School celebrates Annual prize distribution function | Sham asks pvt institutions to focus on quality education | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, MAY 07- Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma has called upon the private educational institutions to focus on quality education besides promoting co-curricular activities. The Minister was speaking at an annual prize distribution function of JK Public School, Panjtirthi held at Kunjwani here today. The Minister lauded the contribution of private institutions in education thus supplementing government’s efforts of achieving complete literacy in the State. The Minister said that education and health are priority sectors for the Government and all out efforts are being made to improve these two. He said it is endeavor of the Government to promote these two sectors in a big way to supplement government efforts for providing quality education and healthcare to the people. Describing teachers as real force behind overall development of a child, the Minister asked the teachers to nurture the future of the children in such a way that they can compete at the global level. He also stressed for imparting moral values to the students so that they can become good citizens and contribute for strengthening the rich culture and heritage of India. He stressed for close coordination between teachers and parents for achieving better results. The Minister also urged upon the school management to launch a campaign against the female foeticide, adding that constant decrease in the female sex ratio as per the recent census has necessitated the Government to use all means and mediums to increase the female sex ratio. He said that need of the hour is to involve people of all sections, including educational institutions, intelligentsia, social, religious organizations to voice for checking the practice of illegal sex determination and saving the girl child. He said that Government has taken all necessary measures in this direction at its level, but only government efforts are not enough and required coordinated efforts, he asserted. The students presented colorful bonanza of cultural items highlighting composite culture of Jammu and Kashmir and national integration, which were highly applauded by the jam packed audience. Later, the Minister distributed prizes amongst the students who excelled in different activities. Those present on the occasion included, Director JK Public School, Kunjwani Brig. Sukhdev Singh, Principal JK Public School, Panjtirthi, Ms. Suman Bamba, Ms. Anita Bhatia, Chairman of JKPS, Mr. Devinder Daluja, Mr. Sidharath Daluja and parents. |
