2-Day Maharaja Hari Singh Karate Championship concludes | Chib for encouraging Sports organizations | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, MAY 07- The Two Day Maharaja Hari Singh, Memorial National Karate Championship concluded here today and Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services & Sports Mr. R. S. Chib was the chief guest on the occasion. The tournament, organized by Universal Martial Art Academy in association with Shito Ryu Seiko Kai Karate Do J&K, was a tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh. The Universal Martial Art Academy in association with Shito Ryu Seiko Kai Karate Do J&K is organizing inter Club competition, District Competition and State Level Championships since last 15 years besides preparing the State’s Sports persons to exhibit their talent at National Level also. Paying tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh, the Minister said that he was a great social reformer who initiated various revolutionary steps to ensure a responsive and accountable administration to the people of the State. He said that Maharaja discouraged untouchability and established schools for imparting education especially to SC & STs. Appreciating the Academy for organizing such championship in the state, the Minister said that this will enthuse the youth to expose their talent at a proper platform besides enabling them to get prepared to compete at State and National Level competition. He assured complete cooperation and support to such sports organizations for further promoting this vital sector in the State. The Minister felicitated the players from other states who took part in the championship and wished them a bright future. He said that such tournament also help in promoting communal harmony and brotherhood among the people of different region and states. Later, the Minister distributed medals among the winners besides giving away mementoes to various dignitaries present on the occasion. Among others present were IGP Jammu Mr. Dilbag Singh, President Bar Association Jammu Mr. B. S. Slathia, Director Youth Services and Sports S. J. P. Singh, senior sports officers and parents of the players.
