Samba District Cricket Tourney | General Baj Singh Cub wins by 67 runs | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SAMBA, May 07: Outplaying Radiyia Cricket Club (RCC), General Baj Singh Club today made it to the next round of Samba District Cricket Tournament underway at General Baj Singh Stadium, Barori, here.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, General Baj Singh Club (GBSC) set a target of 189 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 25 overs, which, in reply, RCC could not chase and the whole side bowled out for 121 runs in 21.5 overs in the process.
Pardeep Singh was top scorer with 52-ball 65 runs, including 11 boundaries and one six while Dharamvir Singh added 37-ball 39 runs studded with four hits to the fence. From RCC, Hanish claimed four wickets for 38 runs in five overs, followed by three-wicket haul by Sushant Mehra.
Later, RCC could not maintain the required run rate and lost wickets on regular intervals thus whole side bowled out for 121 runs in 21.5 overs. Akhil and Rajesh were main contributors with 30 and 21 runs respectively. Jagjit Singh Jamwal was most successful bowler from GBSC, who took four wickets for 26 runs in four overs. Zorawar Singh also bowled well and claimed three wickets for 22 runs.
For his brilliant bowling spell, Jagjit Singh was declared man of the match. In today’s match, Pawandev Singh and Sunny Singh were umpires while Ashwani maintained the score.
