'Ateet Ke Sakshi' play staged, reflects KPs connect with Kashmir fading away | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 7: 'Ateet Ke Sakshi', a Hindi play was staged at Abhinav Theatre this evening by Pancham group. The play is written by Rakesh Roshan Bhat and was directed by Rohit Bhat. The Writer / Director duo has earlier staged acclaimed Kashmiri play "Chopayer Yee Gash". The play tried to highlight the fact that the colossal tragedy of exodus of Kashmiri pandits has got reduced to a mere forgettable incident. Being aborigines of Kashmir - the place no longer belongs to them now. They have got uprooted and are scattered all over the world. Although they have managed to survive but have paid heavy price for the same - price dearer than anything else in the world, their identity and roots. The play also reflected the connect of the exiled KP community with Kashmir is fading with every passing day. Two decades have already passed. Very soon there may be no sign of their existence left in Kashmir. However, the Temples and Shrines in Kashmir are witness to their eternal connect with Kashmir. The thrust in that context was that these Shrines and Temples not only need physical restoration but also care and affection which this play tries to rekindle in every heart. Gasha ji, an old Kashmiri Pandit in exile has developed a strong yearning to go back to his ancestral temple in Srinagar. He wants to renovate the temple and spend his final days there and then breathe his last in the very place. His Muslim friend Gafoor who has been protecting the shrine all these years is going for Haj Pilgrimage. Therefore, Gasha ji requests his son Ravi ji to accompany him but Ravi ji has many questions to which he wants answers first. Gafoor's son Manzoor and Ravi ji happen to meet next. The meeting leaves Manzoor a transformed person. Ravi ji ends up losing his life for the cause. Manzoor assumes the mantle to fulfill the last wishes of Gashaji and Raviji. The powerful dialogues and equally effective act by the lead actors Manoj Bhat, Vijay Goswami, Sunny Mujoo and Dhanesh Dogra was the mainstay of Ateet Ke Sakshi. It was ably supported by simple yet effective set design and music. Moti Kaul, the Chief Guest on the occasion while as . Bhupinder Singh gave the music of the play. Arun Sharma was the producer manager, Deepak Bhan was Production Controller, Balbir Kumar was publicity in charge, costumes by Shabnam & Sunita, Lucky Gupta was production assistant, make up incharge was Shammi.
