Rather, Sagar are insiders: Omar | 'No contradictions with Farooq' | | Early Times Report srinagar, May 7: The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Saturday dismissed rumors of rift with his senior cabinet colleagues and said that they were very much in his inner circle. In an interview with a national news channel, Omar said, "(Abdul Rahim) Rather sahib and (Ali Mohammad) Sagar sahib are Finance and Rural Development ministers in my cabinet. What more insiders they can be? Sagar sahib is member of coordination committee also." He termed the stories of rebellion in National Conference as baseless. On contradictions between him and Dr Farooq Abdullah on dialogue process with Pakistan, Omar said, "There are no contradictions." Asked Farooq Abdullah says India shouldn't talk with Pakistan and Omar says otherwise, the Chief Minister said, "He (Farooq) is a union minister and I'm chief minister. I've my responsibilities and he has his own. I talk as CM and he talks like a union minister." Omar said that linking his family in the issue wasn't justified. "There might be some difference of opinion between Farooq sahib and me. But it is not something on which you can add spice and make stories." On talks with separatists, the Chief Minister said, "Our job is only to facilitate the dialogue. What they are talking you can ask the center government." Asked who was responsible for the killing of 118 youth in last year's summer uprising, he said, "Let us not get involved in blame game. Mistakes happened from both the sides. We can't hold one side responsible for it." On the investigations in the killing of teenager Tufail Matoo, he said, "Investigations are on. Some people have been arrested. If you want to prove that we are doing nothing, it is not a fact." The Chief Minister acknowledged that Dogra Certificate order had been issued without his and cabinet's consent. "Dogra Certificate order should not have been issue. It had been done without the consent of the cabinet. But we dealt with it tactfully." Asked whether the order was revoked under pressure from Hurriyat (G) chairman' Syed Ali Shah Geelani, he said, "Geelani had no role to play in it. We ourselves revoked it. Some people wanted to add fuel to the fire but we avoided that." On removal of bunkers in the Valley, Omar said, "We aren't talking about removing camps yet. If you will show me army bunker in Srinagar I will remove that. We will reach to the stage of removing camps also one day." To a question that he was isolated from the masses, Omar said, "It is media hype. I've learnt a lot from the negative publicity from the media. I'll not clarify it with you but will act so that public comes to know the reality." Asked, despite being youngest CM in India, what he could do for youth of the state, he said, "Lot has been done and lot needs to be done. When I'll complete three years in the office I will put all the records before the people." On rising corruption levels in the government machinery, he said, "There are allegations of corruption but unfortunately there are no evidences. We can't act on rumours. Whenever any one is found guilty, law takes its own course of action." |
