Valley readies to welcome durbar back in valley | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 8: After remaining shut for a period of more than one week due to durbar move arrangements, civil secretariat in Srinagar is all set to reopen amid tight security arrangements on Monday. Secretariat building and the offices of the state government have already received a face lift to welcome the durbar move employees. Main roads leading to secretariat building have been decked up for the opening day. Elaborate security arrangements have been made by state police to ensure safety of VVIP’s an secretariat employees. At the same time, local residents in Srinagar may witness some traffic blues on day one due to restrictions in view of the movement of the VVIP's. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his ministerial colleagues are all expected to reach Srinagar on the opening day of the durbar. Offices would be thrown open after welcoming Chief Minister in the civil secretariat followed by customary guard of honour. Office of the Governor Raj Bhawan would also start functioning from Monday in Kashmir valley. Kashmir based employees and those from Jammu have already reached Srinagar to join duties. Soothing weather conditions and the peaceful atmosphere in the valley is considered a positive sign by those hoping to see peaceful summer months in the coming days. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, keen to carry forward his developmental agenda and provide impetus to his initiatives for the welfare of the people is expected to attend series of meetings with ministerial colleagues and senior administrative secretaries.
