SDP concerned over neglect of women, children | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 8: Socialist Democratic Party (SDP) has expressed eager concern over the neglect of women and children of the state falling victim to criminal activities like drug smuggling. Addressing in a village near Basholi, SPD president Darakhshan Andrabi said that the far off hilly areas of the state like that of Basohli have been affected by militancy also and here youth have been roped up by the criminals and drug smugglers. She said that the mothers of the area and whole of the state are facing many challenges as there are no job opportunities for their children and again crime and corruption has reached to heights. Andrabi also expressed her anguish over the dilapidated condition of roads, poor health care, poor basic facilities of water and electricity in the area. She reminded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that this area also belonged to his state. She criticized the local administration of forcing the area to backwardness when crores of developmental funds go into embezzlement. Reacting on Hurriyat leader’s comments about China’s involvement in J&K, she said that they were living in fool’s paradise. She said that Hurriyat had lost drum beating issues and was now beating about the bush. Darakhshan said that China’s misadventures are not new and J&K is only at the loosing end so far as their sinister designs are concerned. She said that Hurriyat is the enemy of the J&K and so it can go to any extent to keep itself in news.
