World Red Cross day celebrated

JAMMU, May 8: Like in other parts of the world, people in Kargil also celebrated the World Red Cross Day.
On this occasion a rally of students and Red Cross volunteers was flagged off by acting CEC Haji Ghulam Amir from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kargil under the banner of District Red Cross Committee Kargil.
Later on a seminar was organized by the District Red Cross Committee Kargil at Syed Mehdi Memorial Hall Kargil in which acting Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil Haji Ghulam Amir was the chief guest, while Dy. SP headquarter, Mohd Aslam was guest of honour.
In the seminar students and speakers threw light on the importance of the Red Cross and the theme for the year 2011-12 that is “Together for Humanity”. Students who participate in this programme included Mohd Yousuf, Abdul Wahab, Zakir Hussain from Boys Hr. Sec. School Kargil and Shabana Azmi, Hakima Aktar, Rizwana Batool fro Girls Hr. Sec. School Kargil
Talking on this occasion the chief guest Haji Amir told that the students should work hard not only in the field of education but also in the field of voluntary service and should come forward for the help of the needy people in time of emergencies.
He stressed on the teachers to develop amongst the students the habit of voluntarism, and social service so that they became a noble citizen in the future.
Haji Amir also requested the people that, like in other districts of Jammu and Kashmir, people of Kargil should participate in the coming panchayati election and should try to make this non party election a success.
Dy. CMO, Jaffar Akhone also through some points on Red Cross Day. On this occasion, the Chief Education Officer Kargil, District Information Officer, Deputy CMO, Deputy SP, ZEO, and large number of students were also present.
