| Expansion work of KSA NH-1, JKNHW reviewed | | | Early Times Report KOKERNAG, May 8: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today reviewed on-going widening work of Kishtwar-Simthan-Anantnag (KSA road) NHB-I under the Beacon project at Kokernag. Meeting discussed various issues related to the project, including land acquisition and compensation, shifting of various pipelines of various water supply schemes by PHE department and shifting of electricity poles with HT and LT lines and other utilities to the new realignment thoroughly. Divisional Commissioner was informed that so far Rs.36 Crores out of Rs.120 Crores have been spent on compensation to the land acquisition while the remaining process is continue. The Chief Engineer, PHE told the meeting that Rs.790 lakh have been spent on the installation of new water pipes and shifting of other utilities while work on 40 kms out of 45 kms has been completed. Earlier, Beacon Officers while giving a brief account of the on-going project informed the meeting that 40 kms out of 72 kms from Simthan pass up to Kokernag has been black topped. He further informed that out of Rs.380 lakh, 90% work has been done and bridge is expected to be thrown open for vehicular traffic within one month. During his visit, Divisional Commissioner also took stock of the road widening work of J&K National Highway, under Beacon project at Pampore. Samoon asked the Chief Engineer, Beacon for taking widening work forth with at accident prone area. Meeting was attended by the Chief Engineer, Beacon, Brigadier Rawat, Chief Engineer, PHE and Irrigation, Ghulam Rasool Zargar, SE PDD Anantnag, Manzoor Ahmed Wani ,representative of Kokernag Development Authority and other Beacon ,Civil and Police Officers.
