| Youth Congress condemns lathicharge on villagers | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 8: An emergency meeting of Youth Congress was convened today under the chairmanship of R. S. Pathania wherein lathicharge and excessive use of force by administration in village Bhughtrain of Ramnagar tehsil against peaceful protestors led by local sarpanch, Parikshit Singh was condemned.
Youth congress activists said that the brutal lathicharge ordered on spot by Tehsil administration, has left about two dozen villagers including old people, women and children injured and heckled. Youth Congress has further drafted a hard-hitting resolution and sent it to Chief Minister for a detailed judicial inquiry, fixing of responsibility and taking of immediate remedial measures with a view to restoring the faith of peace-loving people in the democratic system and the rule of law.
While criticizing the high-handed action of stiff-necked police officers, Pathania said that it is pitiful that innocent villagers seeking adequate staff and infrastructure in the school are being treated like vagabonds and criminals. Prominent among who were present and signed the resolution included Amit Manhas, Shashi Bhushan, Dr. Ajay Jamwal, Vikram Singh Bhandari, Manu Jamwal, Shivang Satya Gupta, Bharat Priye, Z.S. Malik, Shafiq Rehman Bhat, Abhinav, Sonu Dubey, D.S. Manhas and others.
