22-run win for Jakh Club in Samba cricket tournament | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, May 08: Guided by fine innings from Ashmit and Munna, Jakh Cricket Club defeated Brig Rajinder Singh Cricket Club by 22 runs to make it to next round of ongoing Samba district level knock-out cricket tournament, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association at Gen Baj Singh cricket ground, Barori, here. Batting first, Jakh Club made a reasonably good score of 168 runs in the stipulated 25 overs, losing nine wickets in the process. Ashmit played sensibly to score 58-ball 60 runs with the help of ten boundaries. He was well supported by Munna, who contributed 25 off 19 balls with two fours and one six. Rahil was the pick of the bowlers for Brig Rajinder Singh Club, scalping 4 wickets for 20 runs in his five overs while Mayank bowled four overs for 30 runs, bagging three wickets. Brig Rajinder Singh Club, in reply, gave a good fight before getting all out for 146 runs in 22.5 overs and falling short of 22 runs. Mayank contributed 35 runs with five boundaries while Sanju chipped in with power-packed 26 runs including 4 mighty sixes. For Jakh Club, Munna bowled a magnificent spell of five overs, taking 3 important wickets by giving away just 10 runs while Ajay bowled 4 overs for 20 runs and took two wickets. Munna was adjudged man of the match for his all-round display. Match was officiated by Pawan Dev Singh and Dharamveer Singh as umpires while Vinay Singh acted as the scorer. The tournament is being organised by Samba District Tournament Committee, constituted by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association’s Jammu wing, under the overall supervision of former international cricketer, Surinder Singh Bagal.
