Shafi Pandit interacts with IAS aspirants | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 08: Former Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) Mohammed Shafi Pandit guided young IAS and KAS aspirants in a useful interactive session organized by the SR College of Competitions, here. Session was eventful as it covered some key issues about the Civil Services, both IAS and KAS. It was attended b y Civil Services aspirants drawn from places as far as Ladakh and Kargil as also from Jammu and Kashmir Provinces. While delivering key note address, he talked about the changes introduced in the IAS preliminary examination. He dwelt at length on the CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) and concentrated on the impact of negative marking in the prelims papers. Former chairman of the PSC, Shafi Pandit also shared his experiences as bureaucrat. When asked by one of the participants about his most important contribution to the state in particular he replied that there are many things he has done but notably among them is the introduction of the concept of `Single Line Administration’. Spearheading the movement of guiding the state youth towards Civil Services, he was the man behind free coaching to a group of 30 students from all over J&K through the ASCENT Group. Students were also counseled by visiting faculty from Delhi, Vikas Singh, who teaches Political Science (Optional) as well as Current Affairs and Polity components of the General Studies paper.
