Bovine smuggler breaks police naka, held | | | JAMMU: A truck-borne bovine smuggler was today arrested and booked by police in an attempt to murder case after he broke a police naka at Jhajjar Kotli near here and tried to run over cops. Police sources said cops signalled a truck (JK02AA/0311) to stop for checking at Jhajjar Kotli. Its driver, however, ignored the signal and sped away, breaking the barrier, the sources added. Had the cops not jumped to safety, they could have been run over by the speeding truck, the sources added. Police, however, chased the truck in their Maruti gypsy and overtook it soon. The cattle smuggler, whom sources identified as Fateh Hussain, son of Mehraj Din of Ragoora, was overpowered by the cops and taken into custody. The truck was also seized. It contained 10 live and three dead milch animals, the sources informed. The animals were being smuggled to Kashmir. Police had booked the accused under sections 307 and 188 of RPC, 3 of PC Act and 179 of MV Act. |
