Eminent journalist ON Koul passes away | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 8: Veteran journalist, O N Koul, breathed his last in Delhi Sunday morning following a brief illness. Koul, 74, is survived by his wife, Makhani Koul, and three daughters. He served as media advisor to Jammu and Kashmir government. Born on January 6, 1937 in Srinagar, Koul did his graduation from Kashmir University and MA in Economics from Delhi School of Economics. He started his career as a teacher with Rajasthan University and later resigned to join journalism in the Valley. He joined Kashmir Post, one of the oldest tabloid newspaper in J&K and later Economic Times as special correspondent and reported for it from Jammu and Kashmir for two decades. Koul, was ailing due to paralytic stroke, and breathed his last in Delhi this morning. Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti, Agriculture Minister, G H Mir, CPI (M) state Secretary, M Y Tarigami, Peoples Democratic Front chairman and Hakim Mohammad Yasin have offered condolences to the bereaved family. In a condolence message, Omar conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul. In her condolence message PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti expressed shock and grief over the demise of O N Kaul's and recalled his contributions in the field of journalism. She expressed her condolences to the bereaved family and prayed the Almighty to give strength to the bereaved family to bear this loss. She described O N Kaul's demise as great loss to the society. She also prayed for the peace to the departed soul. Spokesman of the PDP, Niam Akthar, and senior leader of the party Nizam-ud-Din Bhat have also condoled the demise of Kaul and recalled his serves as eminent journalist of the state. |
