Darbar opens today amid tight security

SRINAGAR, May 8: The Darbar is scheduled to open here amid tight security. The secretariat building and the adjoining roads have already received a face lift to welcome the Darbar.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his ministerial colleagues are all expected to reach Srinagar on the opening day of the durbar. The offices would be thrown open after welcoming the Chief Minister in the portico of the civil secretariat followed by customary guard of honour. Office of the Governor Raj Bhawan would also start functioning from Monday in Kashmir valley.
Kashmir based employees and those from Jammu have already reached Srinagar to join their duties. The soothing weather conditions and the peaceful atmosphere in the valley is considered a positive sign.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, keen to carry forward his developmental agenda and provide impetus to his initiatives for the welfare of the people is expected to attend series of meetings with his ministerial colleagues and senior administrative secretaries.
