Jatwal enters semis of Samba cricket tourney

SAMBA, May 09: Beating Gurah Slathia Cricket Club (GSCC) by 32 runs, Jatwal Cricket Club (JCC) today sailed into the semi-finals of the ongoing district cricket tournament, organised by the Samba District Tournament Committee under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at General Baj Singh Stadium, Barori here today.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Jatwal Club set a target of 170 runs for the loss of nine wickets in allotted 25 overs. Sahil was the top scorer with 36 runs, including four hits to the fence and one six. Jotu contributed valuable 33 runs facing mere 18 deliveries with four boundaries and one hit over the fence while Radheshyam chipped in with 25 runs again with four hits to the fence. Vijay was pick of the bowlers from Gurha Slathia Club, who claimed four wickets in five overs giving away 30 runs. Ram Singh also bowled well taking away three wickets in his five overs spell.
In reply, Gurha Slathia bundled-out for 137 runs in 17.4 overs, thus lost the match by 32 runs. Though Shammi and Bhanu posed some threat to the rivals with their lusty hitting in the middle of the innings, but their dismissals after playing brief knocks cleared the road for the Jatwal Club.
While Shammi made quick-fire 41 runs in just 23 balls with two fours and four sixes, Bhanu contributed 36 runs.
From Jatwal Club, Ronie, Shashi and Ranjit scalped three wickets each. However, Ronie was best of the three considering his economical bowling and was adjudged man of the match.
Today’s quarterfinal match was officiated by Sunny Singh, Surjeet Singh and Vinay Singh. This tournament is being played under the overall supervision of former international cricketer, Surinder Singh Bagal.
Next Match: Suchani Cricket Club shall lock horns against Patti Cricket Club at 8 am tomorrow.
