Ministers told not to ignore summer secretariat | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 9: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has asked his ministerial colleagues to ensure that mini secretariat remains functional during summer months in Jammu Official sources said that these directions have been given to the ministers after reports reached the Chief Minister that during the summer months, when the civil secretariat remains open in Srinagar, ministers neglect Jammu. They added that Ministers prefer to enjoy cool breeze in Kashmir. Sources said that from the current summer season, ministers and some senior bureaucrats were under instructions that they should attend to the problems of people and listen to their grievances by remaining present in the mini secretariat on rotational basis. Instructions have been issued to ministers and senior bureaucrats to act as trouble shooters. These instructions are part of plan of the government to give no chance to people to take to the streets. Centre has been told that since over six lakh educated youths were unemployed and they were being exploited by the separatists, there were chances that in case the problem was not resolved, they could be lured by militants. State government has also conveyed to the central government that in the absence of its financial support, state would not be able to implement its employment policy in letter and spirit. Official sources said that state has requested union Home Ministry and the Defence Ministry to reserve job quota for able bodied youth from Jammu and Kashmir in the Armed forces and the central paramilitary forces. In addition to this, state has sought approval of centre for raising five additional police battalions.
