700 militants avail amnesty package: CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, May 9: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said the government has received nearly 700 applications from local militants in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), who are willing to give up violence and rejoin the mainstream. "The response to the rehabilitation policy (for militants in PoK) has been better than expected. We have received 600 to 700 applications. Out of the total applications received, 125 have been cleared by authorities for the militants to return to the state," Abdullah told reporters here. "The information will be passed to their families now on how they can come back," he added. The Central Government had approved the rehabilitation policy last year for return of the youth, who crossed over to PoK to embrace militancy and now want to return to lead a peaceful life.
