Omar’s tweets don’t hinder his work | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar May 9: The Chief Minister has said that his frequent tweets did not hinder his official work. He was talking to reports immediately after the secretariat opened here today. Posting comments ranging from international politics to wayside dhabas have been Omar’s favourite past time for quite some time. The tweets have won Omar many an admirer. "Typing 140 characters on the phone does not take time. Let me assure you it does not affect my work as Chief Minister," Omar told reporters."It is a very useful tool to elicit feedback from a limited but important audience," he said. Omar said the use of twitter was secondary to his work as chief minister. Box `I did not drive fast’ The Chief Minister today said that he did not exceed the prescribed limit on the Jammu-Srinagar highway Sunday while driving his car. Omar said it was not possible as the jammers in his cavalcade did not allow speed to exceed 80 kms per hour. "The fact that the down convoy from Srinagar to Jammu was stopped in view of the 'darbar move' helped me to use the road freely," Omar said. In a tweet on the micro-blogging website, the chief minister had written that he drove from Jammu to Srinagar, a distance of nearly 300 kms through hilly terrain, in just six hours including the lunch break.
