JMC continues sanitation drive | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 9: With the onset of the summers, an estensive sanitation drive was carried out in Ward No 9, 10 and 15 as a part of Sanitation drive launched by Jammu Municipal Corporation. This drive was carried out under the instructions of S C Sawhney, Municipal Commissioner. During the visit to these wards, the Secretary, Chief Transport Officer, Chief Enforcement Officer, Sanitation Officer took stock of the sanitation work being done by the sanitation staff in these wards. Besides this, the goods / articles kept by the shopkeepers / vendors by encroaching upon footpaths / pavements in these wards especially in the areas of Raj Tilak Road, Moti Bazar, Mohalla Pharian etc., which were causing inconvenience to the pedestrians and in the smooth flow of vehicular traffic were seized and also seized the stationary / without license reharies. The seized goods / material were impounded to the Municipal Yard at Town Hall, Jammu. The public in general appreciated the anti – encroachment drive of Jammu Municipal Corporation in the congested Bazars of Old City. The Jammu Municipal Corporation once again appeals to the shopkeepers to keep their goods within their shops/establishments to avoid seizure of these goods and penalty for such defaults.
