CCTVs to be installed by police at all sensitive spots in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 10: As part of modernization of communication and weaponry system the Jammu and Kashmir police have decided to inst all CCTV surveillance system not only in the two capitals of the state. In this connection manufacturers and their distributors have been approached for the supply, installation and commissioning of wireless IP based CCTV surveillance system in various parts of the state. Police sources said that the state Government has approached the central Government, particularly the union Home Ministry, for adequate financial support for modernizing weaponry and communications system in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said that the police will lay emphasis on installation of CCTVs at crowded places, railway stations, bus stands and outside all important Government and security buildings and headquarters. They said that as part of his plan of upgrading security bandobast the CCTVs were to be installed at sensitive spots in various towns of the state. Each police vehicle is to be fitted with wireless system so that there was no communication gap between the patrol parties and the police headquarters. Reports said that apart from equipping those companies of police and the CRPF that are to be deployed for crowd management with non-lethal weapons those in the Armed police were to be equipped with sophisticated weapons so that they were fully prepared for dealing with militancy related activities and violence. According to these reports, additional fleet of bullet proof cars, jeeps and vehicles for the police were being made available by the union Home Ministry. The police authorities within the state were keen to provide to provide jawans, deployed in the field, bullet proof jackets and highly sophisticated weapons for tackling any militancy related activities.
