| Agri deptt to delegate powers to Panchayats | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, May 10: Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir today discussed strategies for delegating powers to the Panchayats vis-à-vis agriculture department at a high level meeting in his office chamber here.
Minister of State for Agriculture Javaid Ahmed Dar was also present in the meeting. Meeting decided that all the agriculture related development programmes would be prioritized and monitored by the concerned Panchayats across the state to ensure effective implementation of all the schemes of agriculture and its allied sectors at the grass root level.
Mir said that the objective behind this meeting is to take the necessary steps in this direction to fully empower local institutions of governance for the development of the state. He said “we have to empower the people at the grass root level to make J&K prosperous state”. Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Iqbal Khanday, Secretary, Agriculture Gazanffar Ali, Director Agriculture, Kashmir Farooq Ahmed lone and Director Agriculture (DA) Jammu Ajay Khajuria.
