Orientation-cum-awareness programme on SKEWPY

DODA, May 10: An orientation cum awareness camp was held here today to create awareness among the people of the district with regard to the benefits being provided under Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY).
Camp was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) with District Development Commissioner Doda Farooq Ahmed Khan, in the chair. Coordinator JKEDI Jammu Dr. Majid Manzoor Khan and Cluster Head J&K Bank Dod. Bsides district-officers and resource persons nominated by the Rural Development Department from all eight blocks of the district were also attended the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC asked the resource persons of RDD to acquaint themselves with each and every aspect of the scheme as they have to disseminate its information among the rural and urban population of the District particularly unemployed educated youth. He asked them to work with a missionary spirit for creating mass awareness in all eight blocks of the District so that unemployed youth can avail maximum benefits of the scheme and establish their own self employment ventures.
He said that the objective of the scheme is to promote investment optimally exploit the locally available potential. He said the core areas of the scheme are Horticulture, Floriculture and Cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants, Food processing at household/village level, Food storage establishments, particularly cold chain, Handloom, Handicrafts and other artisanal products, poultry, sheep breeding and production collection, storage and marketing of Milk, setting up of Computer literacy / training institutes in villages, habitations particularly with population of less than 3000 souls.
Under the Seed Capital Fund Scheme a prospective entrepreneur must be an unemployed state subject falling in the age group of 18-37 years and with minimum qualification of Higher secondary pass certificate. There is no income ceiling for coverage under the scheme, the beneficiary must be registered with the concerned District Employment and Counseling Centre and no institution or corporate body or society or NGO is eligible for assistance under the scheme.
