Election arrangements finalized for Sumbal, Hajin | | | Early Times Report KUPWARA, May 10: Arrangements for holding free and fair Panchayat Elections in Sumbal and Hajin Blocks were finalized at an Officers meeting here today. District Panchayat Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Lone presided over the meeting. Additional S.P, District Panchayat Officer, Returning and Assistant Returning Officers also attended the meeting. Meeting discussed threadbare various issues with regard to elections like availability of election material. Transport facilities for polling staff, counting of votes and other related matters. District Election Officer on the occasion told that in Sumbal Block, where elections are being held on May 16, 2011, 26336 voters including 12826 women will cast their votes. In all 131 punches and 16 surpunches are being elected in the block. To facilitate the voters, as many as 131 polling stations have been set up in the block while as 393 presiding and polling Officers would be deployed for conducting the elections in the Block. Election Officer said that in Hajin Block where elections are being held on May 21, 2011, 45113 voters including 21558 women voters will cost their votes to elect 230 punches and 28 surpunches. For the purpose 230 polling stations have been established in the block while as 690 presiding and polling Officers are being deployed to conduct the elections.
