| Election training for polling staff at Khanabal | | | Early Times Report
ANANTNAG, May 10: According to District Panchayat election officer Anantnag, Syed Kifayat Hussain Rezvi necessary Panchayat election training of last phase will be imparted to the polling staff of Qazigund block on May, 13 at Dak Bangloo Khanabal. Similarly the polling staff of Dachnipora block and Achabal block will receive the training at 10 AM and 2 PM respectively on May 14 at the same venue.
Meanwhile, last phase of Panchyat elections in Block Bagat Kanipora will be held on May 12, 2011.The arrangements in this connection were finalised at a meeting held at Budgam with the District Panchyat Election Officer, Mohammad Rafi in chair. In all 41086 voters including 20220 women voters will elect Panchas and Sarpanches.As many as 387 panchas and Sarpanchas including 75 women are in the fray.
Further, Minister of State for Power Shabir Khan has lauded people of the state for their large participation in ongoing Panchayat elections aimed at faster development of rural areas. Interacting with panches and sarpanches of Rajouri constituency, Minister said that holding of Panchayat elections was a sincere decision of government for strengthening democratic institutions at grass root level.
Minister said the government has taken several innovative initiatives for all-round development of rural and hilly areas. He said holding of Panchayat elections was one of them. He said that endeavour of the government is to strengthen democratic setup at grass root level besides empowering rural people for participation in development programme initiated by the government.
