ReT teachers demand regularization | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 10: Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum has demanded immediate regularization of the ReT volunteers who are working in various schools in the state. Addressing a meeting of members, senior vice-president of the forum Bhupinder Singh said that thousands of youth were engaged by the government in education department under the Rehbar pattern, but they have faced exploitation from the administration. He alleged that most of the youth feel exploited and neglected, despite the fact that they have played important role in expansion of the education in the state. “We have given prime of our youth to the state, but in return have got nothing. Even our salaries have not been increased since we have been engaged”, he said.Singh also demanded regularization of education volunteers those who have completed seven years in their respective zones. Forum has also demanded pension benefits to the teachers engaged before January 2010. They have also urged the administration to include five years service for giving promotion benefits to the teachers and enhancement of wages as recommended in order No 115. Singh alleged that despite repeated assurances by the successive administrations in the state, no attention is paid towards the plight of the teachers who are highly educated. “There are hundreds of youth who have Post Graduation or P.hDs in their subjects, but they are fed up with the apathetic attitude of the officials”, he said.Speaking on the occasion, chief spokesperson of the forum Neenu Lata criticized economic and educational policies of the government blaming them for the present problems in Jammu and Kashmir. She alleged that most of the teachers engaged in ReT scheme have been totally ignored by the administration, which is matter of concern.
