| Bhim seeks early start of Jammu Central University | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 10: National Panthers Party (NPP) chairman Bhim Singh Tuesday called on the President of India Pratibha Devisingh Patil and urged for her intervention to ensure early functioning of Jammu Central University.
He also requested the President, who is the visitor of the Central Universities, to exercise her constitutional authority to appoint a Vice Chancellor for Jammu Central University from the panel of the persons who were included in the list by the Selection Committee. He said that besides Amitabh Mattoo there are prominent academicians from Jammu in the list and the President may appoint any person from the first list as Mattoo has already taken a foreign assignment. Singh also invited the President to Jammu as a chief guest in a function to be organised by the Council for Promotion of Dogri Culture, Art and History to present Dogra Ratan Awards-2010-11 to the recipients who have been chosen for the said awards by Dogra Award Selection Committee headed by the former Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof M.R. Puri.
