JMC clears encroachments from footpaths | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 10: The enforcement wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Tuesday sealed an eye hospital in Sainik Colony, allegedly for converting residential building into commercial complex. The drive was conducted on the instructions of JMC Commissioner S C Sawhney. A team of enforcement wing led by the Chief Enforcement Officer (CEO) Jammu raided the KD Eye Hospital at plot number 513 Sec C, Sainik Colony and sealed it allegedly for violating the norms. The sealing operation was conducted with the help of Police Force from Sainik Colony Police Post. Intensifying its drive against the encroachments on footpaths and pavements by roadside vendors, the team also visited Gandhi Nagar, Nanak Nagar and Trikuta Nagar areas and removed the articles and goods which were placed by the shopkeepers and vendors by encroaching upon footpaths and pavements causing inconvenience to the pedestrians and obstructing the free flow of vehicular traffic. Continuing its sanitation drive, the JMC team lifted garbage and cleaned streets and lanes in ward numbers 14, 30 and 40.
