Court grants bail to medical asstt in cheating case | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 10: Special judge anti-corruption, A K Koul today
granted bail to medical assistant Mohammad Tahir in an alleged
cheating case. He was alleged to have taken Rs 80,000 per head from unemployed
youth to provide them government jobs. He was arrested by Darhal police on April 25 last and booked under
section 5(2) of PC Act read with sections 419 and 420 of RPC. Granting him bail, the judge observed that as he was in police
custody since April 25, 2011, the investigating agency had enough
time to interrogate him and if his further detention was permitted,
it might tantamount to punishing him unheard which was against the
basic cannons of criminal law. As being a medical assistant, the accused was on the government pay
role, his chances of fleeing justice were very bleak. The court,
which held the view that the petitioner’s case qualified for bail,
directed to release him on furnishing bail bond and surety bond to
the tune of Rs 50,000.
