JWAM submits memorandum to DC, CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, may 11: Jammu West Assembly movement has submitted a memorandum of demands to the District Development Commissioner Sanjeev Verma to put forward before the J&K Govt. and to the Chief Minister Omar Obdullah . Sunil Dimple, president JWAM apprised the District Development Commissioner the problems faced by the people of Jammu district and particularly the winter capital Jammu city that has been has left behind in the pace of development and has been converted into a slum capital in spite of making it a model capital due to negligence and ignorance of the administration. We drew attention towards some burning demands which need to be discussed in the Jammu District Development Board meeting. The demands included D C Jammu and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to allocate funds to solve the traffic problem prevailing in the Jammu city and start the immediate work of flyovers at Rehari Chungi, Jewel Chowk and Vikram Chowk. He also demanded for starting Metro Rail, Mono Rail and Construction of Circular Roads to solve the traffic problem faced by the people of Jammu City and construction of fourth bridge on the river Tawi as announced by him. He also demanded beautification of the river tawi as a tourist spot. He also apprised the Chief Minister that the people of Jammu city are facing acute scarcity of drinking water, so the work on the supply of water to the people of Jammu city from river chenab of Akhnoor should be started. Sunil Dimple demanded funds for the poor electrification system prevailing in the Jammu City and alleged that the people of Jammu city are facing frequent curtailment of electricity, low voltage and defunct electrification system and defunct transfers in the Janipur grid station should immediately be improved.
