| 80 vegetables can be grown in Kargil during winters: DRDO | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 11: Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in collaboration with 8 MNT divisions organized a Kissan Mela and free medical camp for the inhabitants of Kargil in which DRDO informed that more than 80 verities of vegetables can be grown in Kargil during winters.
More than 1500 locals including females were present on the occasion.
The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) played great role in Leh district and with its efforts now 40% of vegetables can be grown in Leh by locals during winter .
However, in Kargil district there was no concept of such growth of vegetables during winter but now with the effort of security forces, the Army is trying to establish a unit of DRDO in Kargil and aware the common farmers of Kargil
The 8 MNT Division of Army organized a Kissan Mela and free Medical camp in Khumboo Thang in which framers from other blocks including Gund Magole Pur and Sankoo block also participated.
The aim of the Mela was is to give awareness about the cultivation and seeding through modern technology.
Free seeds were distributed among the farmers and even the farmers were given training through power point presentation by the Scientists of DRDO.
The Acting Chief executive Councilor LAHDC Hagi Ghulam Amer, SSP Kargil Jaweede Iqbal and other civil officers were present on this occasion.
