Azad distributes prizes at painting competition

Jammu, Nov 19
Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has called for promoting creativity among children to help build their integrated personality development.
Addressing at prize distribution function of painting competition organized by Kala Kendra Jammu in connection with birth anniversary of late Mrs. Indira Gandhi here this evening, Mr. Azad said that such activities create better understanding among children and help nurturing their creativity.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Mr. Pramod Jain, Director Archaeology and Museums Mr. M. K. Qadri, Administrator Kala Kendra besides other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Over 300 students of 40 different schools of Jammu division took part in the competition, who were divided into four groups of small, sub-junior, junior and senior.
Later, Chief Minister went round the Kala Kendra and advised Divisional Commissioner to prepare a plan for the upgradation of infrastructure and beautification of Kala Kendra. He also directed for opening of open air theatre to explore the possibilities of developing planetarium with the private investment. He appreciated the budding student artists for displaying their artistic talent.
In senior group, Anshu Devi of Army School Jammu Cantt,Vijay of SD Higher Secondary School Julahka Mohallah Jammu and Suchan Kumar Gupta of Oriental Academy Jammu stood first, second and third respectively. In junior group, Shahzaz of Jammu Public School Talab Khatikan, Sneha Sonia of Army School Jammu Cantt and Palgi Choudhary also of Army School Jammu Cantt got first, second and third positions respectively. Similarly, Kumar Vasu of DBN School, Hitakshi Mahajan of Presentation Convent and Priya Anqush of Army School Jammu Cantt were adjudged first, second and third respectively in sub-junior group. In infaint group, Shelly Sorien of JK Public School Panjtirthi, Babika Sharma of Army School Jammu Cantt and Bibakant Singh were adjudged first, second and third respectively
On the occasion, a painting was presented to Chief Minister.
