Non-teaching college employees observe `demands day’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May11:- On the call of J&K Colleges Non-Teaching Employee of various cadre near about 36 colleges of Jammu province observed `DEMANDS DAY’ to press their demands. The non-teaching employees of all city colleges and activists and office bearer of rural colleges Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, R.S. Pura, Udhampur, Samba, Akhnoor, Kathua etc. assembled in GGM Science College Jammu and shouted slogans in favour of their demands. They also raised slogans against the authorities who have miserably failed to provide the staff according to the increased work load and also failed to fill-up the 40% vacancies of various colleges in Jammu region. Moreover, the higher education department has also failed to implement the agreement of 2006 regarding re-organization of the college Higher Education Department. The local fund daily rated employees of the college who are working for the last 15 years are badly suffering for want of their regularization but the higher education authorities have issued SRO 64 to sabotage their regularization. They demanded the University authorities to increase the remunerations of the university examinations as the rates were fixed in the year 2001 but after that the remuneration rates of the other examinations have been increased manifold. After demonstration the activists and representatives of non-teaching employees also participated in the day long convention called by EJAC on the topic of Principal value based trade union culture and common demands of the employees. Sh. Ram Kumar Sharma the EJAC leader / State Chairman and Javed Ahmed, State president of the association urged the concerned authorities to concede the demands immediately and called upon the employees to remain united. The demands are to fill up all the 40% vacant posts of all the colleges to provide the staff according to the increased work load. 2) Local fund daily rated employees be regularized strictly on seniority and amendment the SRO 64 of 2009. 3) Implement the agreement of 2006 to re-organization of the college Higher Education Department as present norms are not fulfilling the department requirement. 4) Issue promotion order of time bound and functional promotion of various categories of non-teaching employees. 5) University authorities to increase university remuneration on rational basis of different c3!egories of non-teaching employees as these rates were fixed more than a decade ago and issues of examination stationary in a single go to avoid unnecessary in convenience and wastage of time and energy in case failure thereof pay stationery carriage charges for each visit. 6) Demands from the all the college Principals to implement wages of Daily Rated Workers @ Rs. 125/- per day issued under Govt. order No. 17-F of 2011 dated 17-4-2011 as few principals has already implement the same order.
