Pallam Raju concludes three day state visit | Interacts with Army Commander Troops at Northern Command | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Udhampur, May 11: The Union Minister of State for Defence, MM Pallam Raju, visited headquarters, Northern Command at Udhampur today. The Minister was received by the GOC-in-C Northern Command, Lt Gen KT Parnaik. He chaired the meeting of commanders of Army at Northern Command Headquarters at Udhampur and reviewed security situation and counter infiltration measures along the Line of Control (LOC), Public Relation Officer Ministry of Defence (MoD), Jammu, S N Acharaya said. Raju completed his three day long visit of the Jammu region on Wednesday. The Minister also reviewed the Army's infrastructural development projects and various initiatives taken by the force in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly civil action programmes, Acharya said. Raju, who arrived this morning at Northern Command, was received by the General officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, Lt Gen K T Parnaik, Chief of Staff (COS), Lt Gen Jasbir Singh and Sub-Area Commander, Udhampur, Brig Sanjay Kulkarni. The RRM expressed his satisfaction at the preparedness of the Army. He enquired about the comfort and welfare of troops and acknowledged the exemplary work being done by all ranks towards tackling terrorism and ensuring normalcy in J&K. Later, a tea was organised in his honour at Bikram Park, Udhampur, where the RRM met troops of the Udhampur garrision. He complimented all ranks for their outstanding devotion to duty and unwavering commitment under difficult circumstances. At the end the RRM extended his greetings and best wishes to all personnel and their families of the Northern Command. Thereafter, the Minister left for New Delhi.
