| DPEO finalizes polling arrangements in Balakote Block | | Panchayat Election-2011 | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
POONCH, MAY 12-Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, who is also District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) today visited Balakote Block and finalized arrangements for conduct of Panchayat polls in the block scheduled to be held on May 21 .
Addl. SP Mr. Yougal Manhas, SDM Mendhar Mr. Ranjit Singh, Tehsildar, SDPO Mendhar and BDO Balakote were among others who accompanied Mr. Sahu.
The DEPO visited various Panchayat halqas of the Block including Bhata Dhurian, Dharati, Bhruti where deputations and candidates for Panch and Sarpanch constituencies apprised him about various problems confronting their respective constituencies with regard to conduct Panchayat polls .
Responding to issues raised, Deputy Commissioner said that elaborate security arrangements have been made for conduct of smooth, free and fair Panchayat Elections. He also said that Section 144 of CrPC would be imposed on the polling day to thwart any anti-national and anti-social activity. He asked the contesting candidates to adhere strictly to the Election Model Code of conduct issued by Election Authority. He assured that district and tehsil administration are fully prepared to ensure smooth and free conduct of Panchayat Elections in the district.
