State’s golf tourism to be showcased globally: Jora | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, MAY 12- with a view to promote golf tourism in the State the construction work on 18 hole golf course in Pahalgam has been completed and would be tee off very soon. This will be another golf course after 9-hole golf course Sidhra, Jammu developed within shortest period of time for promoting golf tourism in the State.
In this connection Minister for Tourism and Culture Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora today convened a high level meeting to review the arrangements for the inaugural function of the course.
Minister of State for Tourism and culture Mr. Nasir Aslam wani, Commissioner Secretary, Tourism Mr. Atal Duloo, Director Tourism, Kashmir Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Special Secretary, Tourism Mr. Altaf Ahmad besides other senior officers attended the meeting.
The meeting finalized arrangements for the inauguration of newly developed Pahalgam golf course and it was decided that a golf tournament would also be organized on the occasion in which golf players from within and outside Country are expected to participate.
Mr. Jora said that Government endeavours to harness varied tourism potential of the State and showcase it globally. He said J&K possesses great scope in golf tourism and government is keen to upgrade the infrastructure at various scenic destinations in all the three regions, adding development of 9-hole golf course Sidhra Jammu, is one of the indication of the efforts of the government.
