VHP reiterates stand to commence Amarnath yatra on June 15

EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, May 12: Vishwa hindu parishad has once again reiterated its stance of commencing annual pilgrimage of Baba Amarnath Yatra from auspicious Jayeshth Purnima which falls on June 15 and culminate on Raksha Bandahan i.e. August 13 on Sharawan Purnima.
This was held by VHP president Ramakant Dubey in a press conference held here today.
Chander Mouli Raina, editor in chief of Raghvinder Panchangam also presided.
Ramakant Dubey said that the traditional Amarnath Yatra is going on for generations and its duration was increased for two months through a decision of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board by the then Chairman of SASB, Gen. S.K. Sinha taking in consideration the sentiments of Hindus and the growing number of devotees so that they can be facilitated properly, but it is very unfortunate that, from the day Governor N.N. Vohra has assumed the charge who is also the Chairman of SASB, it seems that he has been putting all his energy how the duration of this yatra could be curtailed, an uninterrupted practice which has been going on smoothly for the last several years since 2004.
VHP refutes every argument forwarded by SASB to curtail the period of Amarnath Yatra weather the argument of pollution forwarded by Geelani or the ‘mock theory’ of inclement weather conditions forwarded by the SASB.
Chander Mouli Raina while speaking on the occasion stated that Amarnath Yatra can be commenced from Jayeshth shukal Purnima on June 15 after performing a Rudarbhishek Havan Yagya and Jalbhishek of Bhagwan Shankar at either of the historical places like Ranbireshwar Mandir Jammu, Pir Khoh, Aap Shambhu Mandir Roop Nagar, Jammu, Pandu Gufa Shiv Mandir or Kameshwar Mandir at Akhnoor or any other historical Shiv Mandir, on June 13.
He said that even the shastras permits that traditional Amarnath Yatra can be started after performing Havan Yagya and taking the blessings from Brahamans on June 13, which will neutralize all the effects of Dwanksha Yog falling on June 15, i.e, Jayeshth Purnima.
Meanwhile opinion of Pt. Shri Kameshwar Upadhaya, convener All India Vidit Parishad Kashi is also taken regarding the Amarnath Yatra from June 15.
Others who were present in the press conference included V.K. Gupta president VHP Jammu Mahanagar, Sukh Ram, office secretary & Rakesh Sharma, co – convener Bajarang Dal Jammu & Kashmir State.
