Lobbyism in Congress harming party: Peerzada Sayeed | ‘Decision of rotational CM prerogative of high command’ | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, May 12 (KNS): Senior Congress leader and Minister for Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Thursday said that lobbyism in state Congress was harming the party. In an interview with KNS, Sayeed said, “Lobbyism in State Congress has harmed the party interests. Though lobbyism is Congress culture, but now it has taken serious shape. When I was president of the party, lobbyism was there that time also, but no to present extent.” “Though everybody accepts Sonia (Gandhi) Jee as leader, but lobbyism will harm Congress if it isn’t checked. There can be difference of opinion but it shouldn’t harm the party interests,” he added. On the rotational chief minister issue raised by a lobby in Congress, Sayeed said, “It is prerogative of high command to decide this issue. You can also pose this question to (Prof Saif-ud-Din) Soz sahib as he is president of the state Congress.” On the performance of coalition government, he said, “I remained minister in three collation governments. But I can I say there are lesser differences in this coalition compared to previous ones. And the performance of this coalition is also better.” He said that Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, was lucky to have team of experienced people in cabinet. The Education Minister also lashed out at those elements who were claiming that Omar would resign from his post. “All those rumors proved wrong as Omar sahib has done a wonderful job as a CM.” On rising corruption level in the state, he said, “Strict measures need to be taken to eradicate it. We have passed a bill in the Assembly and gave full powers to the Vigilance.”
