JAMMU, May 12: A police SP today created scene at Gandhi Nagar Auqaf Market in support of his "guilty" son and beat up a shopkeeper for no fault of his.
SP's son Himanshu Gupta picked up a fight after his motorcycle was hit by a scooterist near Auqaf Market in the afternoon, police sources said.
When Himanshu allegedly beat up the scooterist, the latter and his supporters also attacked him in retaliation. Sources said when the SP came to know about the incident, he
immediately reached the spot along with his wife and PSOs.While the scooterist and his supporters had fled the spot, the SP and his PSOs beat up car accessory dealer Subash Chander for no fault of his. He, in fact, was stated to have saved Himanshu during
the fight.
Sources said there was also a scuffle between SP's PSOs and the shopkeepers who had come in support of Subash.Later, Gandhi Nagar police reached the spot and took the SP and
Subash to hospital for their medical check up.Though the shopkeepers said SP's son Himanshu was at fault, no case was registered against him. The SP, however, later apologised to Subash. |
