How could high command take action against the guilty? | BJP Of Cross Voters | | Rustam Jammu, May 12: April 13 was the darkest day in the electoral history of the state. That day, a bunch of seven self-seekers and sellers of the Jammu's mandate voted for the Congress, National Conference and people's Democratic Party candidate seeking election to the Legislative Council. The action of these murderers of democracy and violators of the people's mandate shocked each and everyone. The people expressed the hope that the party high command would take action against them; the high command would expel them from the party and urge the Speaker of the Assembly to disqualify them. Their hope stemmed from certain statements indicating some definite action the erring legislators. One of the statements said strict action against the erring legislators alone could restore the people's faith in the so-called party with a difference. This was a false hope. That the BJP high command would not take action against the erring legislators, that it would simply buy time to get the dust settled or that it would take recourse to delaying tactics in order to deflect the people's attention away from the real issue was a foregone conclusion. It was also evident that the BJP high command would, instead of taking action, adopt a methodology that would enable the BJP legislators and local BJP leaders to indulge in blame game - one group attacking the other and the vice-versa. And, it is actually happening. Both the groups are washing their dirty linens in public and shamefully. Everything action of theirs' is in public domain. True that the BJP high command suspended the alleged violators of the people's mandate. But it was basically an exercise undertaken to hoodwink the people. It was not really committed to punishing the wrongdoers. The manner in which the BJP's disciplinary committee dealt with the issue on May 10 further established that those who were expecting any kind of action were wrong. The disciplinary committee would again meet on May 20 to take up the issue. Take it from me that nothing concrete would emerge out of the proposed meeting. And, how could the BJP high command initiate action against the erring legislators? It cannot and will not take action. Did the party high command take action against that BJP legislator who had voted for Farooq Abdullah of the National Conference in 2009? No, it didn't. Farooq Abdullah was seeking election to the Rajya Sabha. Similarly, did the BJP high command take action against those two BJP legislators who, instead of voting for the party candidate seeking election to the Legislative Council, voted for the National Conference candidates? No, it didn't. If the BJP high command didn't take action against the erring legislators in the past, how could it take action against the guilty now? The truth, it appears, is that no action is in the offing. Another truth is that the BJP in Jammu has become a story of the past. Everyone in Jammu hates the party from the core of his/her heart and dismisses it as a party of cross voters. This is the reality. |
