‘Face book users in Kashmir have truck with ISI’ | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 12: Carrying laptops, a whole lot of clean shaved and well dressed youth use the Face book to inform the militants about the situation in Kashmir. A local news agency quoting intelligence sources reported today. The sources said the police have launched a massive manhunt to nab these youth who "are handsomely paid by the ISI." The youth have been accused of promoting militancy by providing vital information to the militants on the social networking website Face book. The group, sources said, is busy in widening its network. "At places like Shopian, Anantnag, Kulgam and Pulwama the group is approaching local youth, mostly students to cause breach of peace and public order", they said. The police and other security agencies have been critical of the Face book users since last year's agitation. Even the army has resented use of the networking website. In February the army took strong exception to the use of social networking websites by Kashmiri youth who, according to the Corps Commander of 15 Corps indulge in ant-national activities and incite violence. The Corps Commander, Lt General SA Hasnain while addressing a function in South Kashmir on February 2 said that the Face book and Twitter users in particular were maligning the image of the security forces operating in very difficult conditions in Jammu Kashmir. The Commander said most of the users were persons who wanted Kashmir to remain on boil all time for their vested interests. "They do not want peace to return to the state", he said. The police, however, have found it very difficult to nab the Face book users. A senior police official said arresting them (Face book users) was very difficult as most of them use pseudonyms. The Special Operations Group (SOG) A scribe Arif was taken into custody for posting his pathetic poem on the website. Similarly a student of 11th standard was arrested from his residence for making an `anti-national' group on the website. Both of them were set free after preliminary questioning. |
