BJP laments government’s double standards on rehabilitation policy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 13: Referring to reported recommendation of the Jammu & Kashmir government seeking permission for return of 20 Kashmiri youth from PoK, the BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas has complained of double standards of the government in formulating return and rehabilitation policy. He said that while the PoK refugees were languishing in pathetic conditions for the last over 60 years, the government was more concerned about the Kashmiri youth who had recently crossed over to PoK for receiving arms training with a clear motive of waging war against Indian Union. Shamsher Singh Manhas demanded immediate resettlement and rehabilitation of refugees of all categories, including those from PoK, West Pakistan and those of 1965 and 1971 wars. These people belong to nationalist sections and have clear record of patriotic approach during all these years after independence in comparison to those who went to PoK with anti-national intentions. He asked the Congress-led UPA and the NC-Congress coalition to explain as to why it do not deem necessary to think about and frame policy for rehabilitation of refugees and giving preferential treatment to those who have made up their minds to take to gun. Manhas said that on one hand the state government comes out with the excuses of financial crunch every now and then, it has enough money for such people who got lured and crossed over to Pak with ill intentions. He said government employees and pensioners are on roads, adhoc/contractual employees are agitating, more than 6 lakh youth are unemployed but the government doesn’t think about them. He appealed for immediate relief of pending sixth pay commission arrears to serving as well as retired Govt. employees besides meeting their genuine demands so that wrong message does not go about the functioning of the state administration. Meanwhile taking serious note of the recent decision of State cabinet to grant ex-gratia relief to militants' families, BJP State Vice-President Pawan Gupta said that this decision is highly condemnable. Terming the decision as anti-national, Pawan Gupta said that the recent decision has proved that the State Govt is hand-in gloves with the militants. Gupta said that how can the Govt grant ex-gratia relief to the militants who are often involved in killing innocent people in the state. Gupta further said that these kind of decisions will infact lead to increase of militant activities which will affect the security & soveriegnty of our country. Gupta said that unemployment in the state is at its peak but instead of creating employment opportunities for the youth, the State Govt is indulging in anti-national activities by implementing these kind of decisions. Gupta warned that the BJP will not tolerate these anti-national decisions & will oppose this decision tooth & nail. On the occassion, BJP Udhampur City President Raj kumar Bucha, Anil Arora, Sanjay Pakhetra, Ashok Dogra, Ashok Dabgotra, Adv Sunny Mahajan, Sourab Pachiala also criticised this decision of State cabinet.
